Episode 6: Change the Now with Georgian College

In this episode, we sit down with Adam Dagenais, our self-proclaimed Digital Wizard and the Community Impact Lab Coordinator for Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship. With a background as a graphic designer of 20 years, Adam has transformed into a social innovator, bringing his passion for sculpture and painting into his professional pursuits. He leads the Centre’s ‘culture of prototyping,’ supporting students, staff, faculty, and community partners in bringing their innovations to life both in the real and virtual worlds.

Join us as we delve into topics such as digital literacy, art & creativity, and how the future of brainstorming, creating, and prototyping will be shaped by AI. Adam shares his insights on what this means for innovation and the importance of integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our daily lives.

We spend the second half of the show learning about Georgian College's #CTN (Change the Now) co-op program. This groundbreaking initiative has K-College (Kindergarten to College) ambitions, aiming to foster a region of Change-Makers. Georgian College is Canada's first and only changemaker college, designated by Ashoka U for its leadership in social innovation and changemaking in higher education. This prestigious designation is part of the Changemaker Campus program, recognizing over 40 colleges and universities globally that have embedded social innovation and changemaking into their culture, programming, and operations.

Adam encourages everyone to learn more about the SDGs and find connections to them in their own lives. Regardless of what you take away from this episode, remember that all of our little actions make a difference. Turning off a light switch, picking up a piece of garbage, or holding the door for a stranger—these seemingly small actions contribute to positive movement towards the goals. We are all humans on this planet; let's all strive to be good ones.
